Students from the Moorpark College, including those that are incoming high school students, are are now being invited to audition for the school’s summer production, which is entitled, Heathers: The Musical. This is based from the movie that Winona Ryder starred in on 1989.
The Heathers: The Musical was created by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy. It’s the story of a girl named Veronica Sawyer who is a smart but considered a jaded teenager, who needed to deal with the hierarchy of her school’s cliques. She also becomes entangled in a string of murder, lovers’ confessions, suicide, and finally, a deadly confrontation.
The auditions will take place on May 15 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. and another one will also be scheduled on May 16 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the studio theater of the Performing Arts Center at the Moorpark College campus, 7075 Campus Road.
The interested parties are being asked to bring with them 30 bars of sheet music or a karaoke CD so that they could sing an upbeat song. They will be accompanied by a musician during the presentation. Students will also be asked to dance and read from the script. Callbacks are on May 17 from from 6 to 11 p.m,
Students who will be selected will be asked to enroll in the 3-unit THA M10A class, Theatre Production.
